Nevada

The Las Vegas Book Festival is the Nevada festival verified here. Nevada Humanities says it founded the festival in 2002 and describes a celebration of the written, spoken, and illustrated word, with panels, signings, readings, workshops, poetry, children’s literature, and exhibitions. The Humanities page says the festival is held each October at the Historic Fifth Street School in downtown Las Vegas, that it is the largest literary event in Nevada, and that it is produced by the City of Las Vegas and Nevada Humanities with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and Clark County Parks and Recreation. The Humanities page gives Saturday, October 17, 2026, as the date and mentions the Spark! Youth Poetry Competition. The Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records is the state library agency.

Checked against official sources on October 11, 2026. Rules and links change; confirm with the office listed before you act.

The city festival site, lasvegasbookfestival.com, adds practical notes: an exhibitor application had closed, a downtown hotel rate was offered, and sponsorship questions go to the Mayor’s Fund. Nevada Humanities remains the founding organization’s page and the clearer statement of mission. Use both. The school building is the venue the Humanities page names. This guide does not copy panel titles or headliner biographies from the city site. This Nevada note adds no crowd estimate, ticket price, or street address beyond the pages that were fetched.

Spark! is the youth piece. Nevada Humanities says it hosts the youth poetry competition as part of the festival. That is a literary program inside the October day, not a separate statewide fair. Families who want poetry rules should read the Spark! note on the Humanities site rather than assume every children’s activity is a competition. A local library in Nevada may host extra talks, but only the programs named here were verified from official pages.

The Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records says its public hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays, for the library, archives, and talking books. That is weekday government service in Carson City’s library system, not the Las Vegas festival. Use nsla.nv.gov for archives and talking books, and the festival sites for the October Saturday. No second Nevada book festival was verified. Keep Nevada festival plans and everyday library errands on the separate links in this entry, then recheck both.
