Texas

The Texas Book Festival is the festival verified for this state. Its official festival page says the event returns November 14–15, 2026, to downtown Austin, with more than 250 writers, programs in English and Spanish, signings, cooking demonstrations, family and teen activities, exhibitors, food trucks, and a Saturday night Lit Crawl. The page says the festival is free and open to the public. It also says featured authors are not charged to participate and warns against unofficial payment requests. Author submissions for 2026 were closed when the page was retrieved. The Texas State Library and Archives Commission is the state agency. Its site was posting a Texas Book Chat, a Talking Book program, and continuing education for library workers.

The festival page gives a mailing and office address of 1023 Springdale Road, Building 14, Unit B, Austin, TX 78721, and a phone number, (512) 477-4055. That is the organization’s office, not necessarily the outdoor footprint of the weekend. Readers should use the festival site’s map for where sessions sit in downtown Austin. The Lit Crawl is called out as a Saturday night piece, so the weekend is not only daytime panels. Family and teen activities are part of the same free event.

The payment warning is specific. Vendor applications go through texasbookfestival.org. The page says vendor payment is invoiced by staff using an @texasbookfestival.org email through Stripe, and not through Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, wire, or gift cards. Anyone asked to pay another way should stop. Featured authors are not charged. That distinction matters if an email blurs vendors and invited writers. This Texas note adds no crowd estimate, ticket price, or street address beyond the pages that were fetched.

The State Library and Archives Commission is a different institution. The fetched homepage announced Texas Book Chat on October 21, a Talking Book voices podcast, and the retirement note for Director and State Librarian Gloria Meraz dated October 8, 2026. Use tsl.texas.gov for those services and the festival site for the November weekend. No second Texas festival was required to document this one. A local library in Texas may host extra talks, but only the programs named here were verified from official pages.
